Sanding is an essential element in preparation for any paint or renovation project as it ensures a smooth, even surface.
However, it can be messy if you don’t have the right tools. At Creative Living Decor, we take the dust and hassle out of this task. By using professional equipment, we extract the dust that’s generated as we sand.
Dust free sanding of walls and ceilings
We use the Festool ETS EC 150 for sanding walls and ceilings. It’s fitted with a pad that uses intake and exhaust air to generate airflow, this keeps the sanding dust away from the pads surface, so we can obtain a nice, even finish.
There are options for fine sanding and extra-fine sanding, plus intermediate sanding on varnish or paint. The compact design of the tool allows it to access awkward areas so we can ensure complete coverage.
The result is blemish free and flawless surfaces. At the same time, the tool ensures 100% dust extraction, which means far less mess and a much healthier working environment.
Dust free sanding of woodwork
For sanding of woodwork, we use the Festool RTS 400 as it takes a variety of different grade sandpapers for different levels of sanding.
It has a rectangular pad that’s ideal for sanding in small spaces or sanding tiny surfaces, and it works as a final finish sander. Its high-speed orbit diameter provides an excellent finish.
By connecting an extraction system, we guarantee to leave virtually zero sanding dust on the surface we’re sanding or circulating in the air. We can also use a durable, reusable chip collection bag with the sander for smooth sanding along window surfaces, frames and panelling.
Time-saving advantages of dustless sanding
Manual sanding can be an arduous and time-consuming task. Professional dustless sanding is much faster as we can easily reach into awkward corners.
We can also fit our dustless sander with a long handle that extends up to reach into high corners. This time-saving feature means we don’t have to go up and down ladders repeatedly.
The dust build-up that results from major decorating projects can require a clear up operation that goes on for months afterwards as you keep finding dust in nooks and crannies around the house. But with a dustless sander, even fine particles are extracted from the air as we work, so no cleaning up is required afterwards.
Health benefits of dustless sanding
Often decorators and homeowners will wear protective masks during sanding to prevent them from breathing in loose dust. In some cases, dust is so fine that it can penetrate the mask and enter the nose and throat causing damage.
By collecting dust as we work, we create a much safer environment for all concerned and eliminate the need for masks. The dustless sanding method is especially important if anyone in your household suffers from asthma or a lung condition.
